How to Land the Job You Deserve?

Have you ever wondered how some professionals get ahead in their careers, while other don't?
If you are just starting out, graduating from college, when you are looking for a job, qualify prospective employers by finding out what are the opportunities to be promoted. Ask the tough questions, don't take a job which doesn't meet your expectations. If you do take a job, stick it out for at least 1-2 years. If you can get promoted after your first year, you are doing a great job.
This applies for IT professionals with 3-5 years experience, go work for a namesake company (Apple, Cisco, Google) make an impact and move on (no one will ever say, who is Apple). If you are willing to work for a smaller firm, stay as long as possible 1-3 years, to get ahead become a leader (don't hide from responsibility and ownership).
Lastly, this applies to all professionals make a list of your talents (what distinguishes you from the competition, other candidates?). Make another list, "what would you like to accomplish in in 3 years, 5 years, 10 years (have goals you are focused on achieving)?. One last list to create, what are the intrinsic benefits, salary, and values (you want to receive from your prospective employer)?. Taking responsibly for what you want and don't want will help transform your job search into building a meaningful career path. And help you land the job you deserve.
