Back in March 2013, I had an epiphany to use recruiting for good and help travelers save money. I emailed Dan Ilves at the time he was Vice President, Leisure Sales & Marketing at TravelStore. He invited me to come in to his office (and meet in person). Wido Schaefer (Chairman and Founder, TravelStore) also walked into meeting and was listening intently to my pitch. I wrote a blog about making a positive impact in LA (February 2016), and a representative from Fathom Cruises contacted me about evaluating their social impact projects in Dominican Republic. They flew me out, put me up at 5 star hotel, and everyday I traveled to different parts of the island to participate in social projects and give them feedback on how they can improve the experience. They loved my input so much that they rewarded me the actual cruise trip; I returned the favor by sponsoring a creative writing contest in LA to reward a winner a trip for 2 to experience Fathom Cruises.
