"Amanda Scarborough is a role model to me because she isn’t the height of a “typical softball pitcher”. Amanda is short compared to her competition, but she is still one of the best. She has been named The Big 12 Freshman of the Year and Big 12 Player of the Year, becoming the first in history to achieve these titles.. She uses her social media pages as a spot to educate athletes that nothing is handed to you because of your height. 'If you want something bad enough, you’ll find a way.' This is important to me since I’m considered a 'short girl (Cookie Rookie).' I don’t have the perfect build for a high level softball pitcher, so I have to work harder than the girls who have this advantage because they are 5’8 or 5’10.
