This month, Cookie Rookie chose Bethany Hamilton. "Bethany Hamilton is an inspiration because she faced one of the biggest challenges a person can go through, losing an arm, and still continued to live life as an athlete. At age 13, Bethany was out doing the thing she loved most, surfing, when she was attacked by a shark. This didn’t stop her though. Surfing with a fully functional body is hard enough, so it's almost unimaginable to think of surfing with one arm. But, Bethany went back into the ocean with a positive approach and big goals in mind. She went on to become a professional surfer. She embraces her disability and shares how this changed her perspective on life. Even after her traumatic accident, she still became one of the best. This is a huge inspiration to all because everyone's story is different, and it may not always go as planned, but there are ways to overcome and make your goals come true with hard work and dedication."
