On a rainy day, Mom and I had lunch at Wok n Roll in Jackson, New Jersey. It was special to go out with Mom because it was our first time eating inside a restaurant in over a year.
We were very comfortable there because we were the only customers in the restaurant since it was around 2PM which is right in between lunch and dinner.
Before we ordered, the waiter brought us our waters and crunchy Chinese noodles. I liked the noodles dipped in the sweet duck sauce. I didn’t eat too many because I didn't want to be too full for my sushi.
I ordered two rolls, one that I always get and the other one was new to me. When my food arrived it looked delicious. I liked the little tree that the chef put for decoration. (Mom said I couldn't bring it home!). The cucumber avocado cream cheese roll tasted crunchy and creamy at the same time. I loved the taste because the cream cheese is the main flavor. The honey maki roll had shrimp tempura inside and salmon and avocado on top with a sweet sauce. It was a flavor explosion in my mouth and I loved it!! The only problem was that I had to open my mouth REAL wide because the pieces were SO big!
Mom ordered her regular dish of steamed shrimp and veggies. She said no celery but she got celery, oh well. I thought hers was boring but I liked the baby corn that she gave me. Mom enjoyed her meal and said that the shrimp was perfectly cooked.
I was too full to finish my whole meal but I have a little special compartment in my stomach that is saved for dessert, so we got coconut ice cream. Mom said she would only have one bite but we split it evenly! The flavor was very sweet and milky and I got brain freeze because it was so cold!
We opened our fortune cookies as we ate the ice cream. We even did some experimenting and created her own flavor - fortune cookie coconut. Now that was delicious!
I really loved our first “Beauty Foodie News, Mom and Me Lunch” and can’t wait for next month!
