Love to Dance for Good and Travel

BooksandLooks Dancer

Dancing has been a huge part of my life for the last 12 years - and since I’m only 14, that’s more than 3/4 of my life. I practice ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical and hip hop for hours every week. There’s always room to learn and improve, but I’m proficient in all of these styles of dance! Ballet is the basic foundation for almost every style of dance and requires a great deal of discipline, dedication and musicality.

Without ballet the technique of dancers would be subpar. Ballet movements are beautiful, graceful and tell a story, and no ballerina does it better than Misty Copeland. It would be an honor and a dream come true to watch her perform live on stage. She is a dance prodigy who, in mid-2015, became the first African American woman to be the principal dancer in the American Ballet Theatre. Since then, she’s also added published author, Broadway performer and featured stage dancer to her resume. Misty dealt with many challenges in her early life including abuse, poverty and body issues, but overcame them all to become an inspiration to many, especially young dancers.
