The woman of the month for February’s “We Use Our Voice for Good” is Corina Quezada from a LA School. She has inspired many of her students by pushing them to be their best and by showing them every day how much she cares about them.
Every teacher has a reason to teach. In Ms. Quezada’s case, she has a sister with a learning disability and she remembers helping her with her reading when she was a kid. That’s when she decided to help others like her sister. Ms. Quezada began as a preschool teacher, which slowly led to her becoming an elementary school teacher. She is now at a LA School as a bilingual teacher in the Spanish immersion program marking her 6th year teaching.
When asked what the most important factor behind her success is she stated, “My students. I want all of them to succeed.” She said that she looks at her students as future engineers and doctors. She even has free tutoring sessions available for students in her class that need help. Furthermore, in her free time Ms. Quezada enjoys ice skating, rollerblading, and swimming at the beach. She is a fun person both inside and out of school!
Ms. Quezada has impacted me by helping me want to learn again after being home from distance learning during Covid and she is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is such a kind, caring person, and her students are thankful for that.
