Helping LA Dance Studios Fund NYC Trips to Experience World’s Best Dance

in Aug 25, 2023

Recruiting for Good is a staffing agency, generating proceeds to fund Girl Design Tomorrow (mentoring program for pre-teens). One of our participants is a 14 year old girl who is passionate about dance...she inspire us to help LA Dance Studios Fund NYC Trips (participate in our referral program to earn savings for airfare, hotel, and tickets to performances, click here to learn how).

Kids who work on our sweet gigs all have their own nickname (to create equality and anonymity)

Dance is a graceful art that takes years to master even by the most talented performers of all time. But… it is also a fashion show in which the classroom and stage are the runways! The outfits that one wears to dance are seen in the mirrors decorating the studio walls and are analyzed by every other person in the room in hopes of finding a new style or color to try out. The dance clothes that are worn also help the dancer perform to their best ability. If they are comfortable and confident in what they are wearing, they will do much better.

For all dancers in need of new leotards, I would definitely recommend Capezio leotards and tights. While most common brands are great, the items from this particular brand are superior because of their fit, durability, and design choices! Also, super important for dance are the shoes people wear for class. Ballerinas need ballet slippers, tappers need tap shoes, hip-hoppers need sneakers, and dancers from other styles need jazz shoes, lyrical shoes, and pointe shoes too. A dancer’s shoes are the equivalent to a builder’s hammer. I would recommend shoes that aren’t too tight around the toes because dancers need to be able to move around a lot. They also shouldn’t be worn outside as the rough ground might damage the shoe.

Expert dance mom told me that, “We spend about $500 a year on leotards and five different styles of dance shoes, not including sneakers for hip hop. Costumes for recital and competition often top $1000 due to intricate beadwork and lace, and the requirement to have a unique outfit for each performance.”

Dance is an expensive sport, but you can’t put a price tag on confidence building, strength, poise, creativity, discipline and beauty. And on that note, it’s time to put on my tights, get in a leotard, slip on my ballet shoes and head to the studio!
