Wakey wakey, Upper East Siders. Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite. Those were the first twenty words that my best friend and I heard during each of the 121 episodes we watched of our favorite show, Gossip Girl, over the course of only three months. Once we found out Gossip Girl was leaving Netflix at the end of the year (2020), we rushed watching every episode so we wouldn’t miss a thing. Still, almost two years later, you can find us rewatching the same show over and over again. If this doesn’t prove true love and attachment, then I don’t know what does. Something that my best friend and I have talked about is going to New York City and visiting some of the main locations that the show used while filming. After doing research, I found a company that actually does this! We want to live like Blair and Serena for the day, or at least for a couple of hours!
The company, “Gossip Girl Tour'', offers four different types of tours. The one that interests me the most is the VIP Gossip Girl Tour because it has the most to offer. It’s a two hour tour and it brings you to many of the popular locations from the show. To start off, you will visit the Met steps. If you watched Gossip Girl, you will immediately know that you must sit lower than Blair at all times. Blair and her minions spent many hours and all of their lunch breaks watching and judging all of the people walking by.
Other spots that you will visit are the hotels and houses that the characters in the show lived in. You will get to visit The Empire Hotel, owned by Chuck Bass, The Palace Hotel where Serena and her family, the Van Der Woodsen's shortly lived and Nate Archibald’s fancy townhouse off Park Avenue.
Other amazing places that you will visit during the tour are the pond where Blair and Dorota fed the ducks, St. James Church where Blair and Prince Louis got married and Bethesda Terrace where Chuck and Blair got married in the series finale. Anyone who is a true Gossip Girl fan knows that Blair and Dorota had such a strong connection and even though Dorota was her maid, she really acted like a mom to Blair when her real mom wasn’t there. Blair felt like she could tell Dorota anything and everything, and whenever Blair was upset, they would take a walk to the pond and feed the ducks loaves of bread! Being at the pond was so calming to Blair, and was an activity we all know she loved. Even though few Gossip Girl viewers liked Blair and Prince Louis’ relationship, we obviously couldn’t stop them from getting married. I remember Blair and Louis at the front of the church and Chuck peeking his head through the doors. This was such an iconic scene and I would love to stand in the room where it all happened. In the last episode, everyone’s favorite couple, Chuck and Blair got married in such a cool way. They had a small ceremony and were surrounded by their family and closest friends. It was so memorable and the perfect way to end the show! There are so many other places that you will get to see and experience during the tour, but those are just a couple of my favorites!
About Sweet Girl...Cookie Rookie
I’m a true suburban girl and don’t think that city living is for me because it’s too loud and crowded, but spending a day in New York City getting to live like a wealthy Upper East Sider like B and S (Blair and Serena’s nicknames for each other), would be memorable and exciting. It’s the perfect day trip to experience with my bestie.
And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell! Xoxo, Gossip Girl
